Brown University Stops George Washington 8-2 at Princeton Invitational
PRINCETON, N.J. --
Junior Joanna Wohlmuth (Manhattan Beach, Calif./Mira
Costa) scored four goals to help lead the No.
18-nationally ranked Brown University women's water polo team to an
8-2 win against George Washington University at the Princeton
Invitational.
Brown tallied one goal in the first eight minutes of play and then
went on to score two in the second quarter to gain a 3-1 advantage
over the Colonials. The Bears had a big third quarter and outscored
GW 3-0 to take a 6-1 lead, and closed out the fourth with two goals
to earn an 8-2 victory.
Brown's defense was solid throughout the game, holding the
Colonials to just 2-12 on the power play. Leading the defense was
senior Stephanie Laing (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer)
with 12 saves in goal, while Wohlmuth led the offense with four
goals.
Senior Lauren Presant (Poway, Calif./Poway) added
two goals for the Bears and senior Sarah Glick (Bonita,
Calif./Bonita Vista) added a goal, handed out two assists
and drew three ejections. Freshman Brittany Westerman (Palo
Alto, Calif./Deerfield Academy) also added a goal in the
win.
