No. 19 Indiana University Handles Marist 9-3

LEWISBURG, Pa. -- The No. 19 Indiana Hoosiers (4-4, 0-0 CWPA West) picked up their third consecutive victory on Saturday, defeating Marist College, 9-3, to begin the Bison Invitational in Lewisburg, Pa. The game was a rematch of the meeting between the two teams at the Triton Invitational last weekend, which the Hoosiers won 8-6.

Jakie Kohli continued her early season scoring production, racking up a team-high four goals and grabbing three steals in the win. Lauren Wyckoff added two goals for the Hoosiers, and Kelsey Campbell, Kelly Palmberg and Nicole Sands each notched one to round out the Indiana scoring attack.

Cassie Wyckoff played brilliantly in the cage during her 26 minutes of action, collecting ten saves on 21 Marist shot attempts. It marks the second consecutive double-digit save performance for Wyckoff. Eight of her saves came in the first half of play.

Kohli got the Hoosiers off to a roaring start, connecting on the first three goals of the game. Sands then finished off the first period with a long range goal as the shot clock expired to give Indiana a 4-0 lead.

Lauren Wyckoff earned a key five-meter penalty early in the second quarter, which Kohli would convert for her fourth goal of the game.

Following the first Marist score of the contest, Wyckoff would find the net after an assist from Palmberg. Palmberg finished the game with a team-high three assists, to go along with three steals.

The teams would exchange goals before the end of the half to make it a 7-2 Indiana advantage at the break. Campbell scored the final Indiana goal of the half after a long pass ahead from Kara Butler.

The second half featured a steady ball-control offense from the Hoosiers, as they worked to maintain their lead. Thirty seconds into the quarter, Kohli found Palmberg with a nifty cross pass, which she rammed home to give Indiana an 8-2 lead.

The final Indiana goal came from Wyckoff late in the third, after Nicole Redder found her wide open for a close-range score.
