Indiana University's Jakie Kohli Named February 8 Women's Varsity Western Division Co-Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Indiana University's Jakie Köhli (So., Burnaby, B.C., Canada/Moscrop Secondary) registered 16 goals, three assists and eight steals in a 2-2 weekend for the Hoosiers at the Triton Invitational to earn notice as the February 8 Women's Varsity Western Division Co-Player of the Week.
Facing No. 14 the University of California-Santa Barbara, No. 17 California Baptist University, Sonoma State University and Marist College, she launched an all-out assault on the cage, including a single game school record-tying six goal performance in a 15-6 victory over Sonoma State.
All six markers came in the first half of action against the Seawolves a day after Köhli set a then career-high with five goals in a 10-9 loss to Cal Baptist.
The Hoosiers also defeated Marist 8-6 and lost in overtime, 10-9, to UC-Santa Barbara. Against UCSB, she notched a hat-trick with three goals, two steals, one assist, and three earned kick-outs before posting four steals and an assist to go along with the five goals against Cal Baptist.
In the final game of the weekend against Marist, Köhli finished with two goals, two steals, and two earned kick-outs.
She has now scored at least one goal in 17 consecutive games played, dating back to March 22, 2009 against San Diego State University at the Aztec Invitational.
To date, she has 25 goals, five assists, 15 steals and seven kick-outs drawn through seven games this season to raise her career totals to 54 goals, 42 assists and 77 steals in 43 games.
