Maryland's Shannon Simerly Named February 8 Women's Varsity Southern Division Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Senior Shannon Simerly (Miami, Fla./Gulliver Prep) of the University of Maryland scored 10 goals, including four in a victory over Sonoma State University, to lead the No. 20-ranked Terrapins to a 3-1 record at the UC-San Diego Triton Invitational and earn honors as the February 8 Women's Varsity Southern Division Player of the Week.

Against No. 15-ranked the University of California-Davis, she posted two goals in a 10-5 loss before tallying four markers in a 13-7 victory over Sonoma State.  Simerly added pairs of goals versus Pomona-Pitzer Colleges (14-5 W) and Long Beach State University (11-7 W) to raise her career scoring total to 117 goals.
