CWPA Releases 2010 Women's Collegiate Club Mid-Atlantic Division Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. --The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) has released the schedule of games for the 2010 Women's National Collegiate Club Mid-Atlantic Division.

Among the largest geographic divsions in collegiate sports, the Mid-Atlantic Division encompasses teams from Connecticut to North Carolina, including Virgina Polytechnic Institute & State University (Virginia Tech), University of Virginia, James Madison University, Duke University, University of Richmond, Pennsylvania State University, University of Pennsylvania, West Chester University, the United States Coast Guard Academy, Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pittsburgh

Competition will commence on February 6-7 at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Virginia as Virginia Tech, Virginia, Duke and Richmond converge for a 10-game Southern scuffle. 

The Northern teams will get into action two weeks later as Penn, Pittsburgh, Carnegie Mellon, Coast Guard and West Chester meet trek below the Mason-Dixon Line to take on the Southern teams at James Madison in the 22-game Mid-Atlantic Division Cross-Over Tournament on February 26-28.

Penn, Pitt, Carnegie Mellon, Coast Guard and West Chester will then wrap-up the regular season in State College, Pennsylvania on the campus of Penn State for a 12-game Northern Regional tournament on March 27-28 which will finalize the seeds for the Mid-Atlantic Division Championship on April 9-11 at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia.

The victor of the championship tournament, which is seeded based on the programs' regular season records, will earn a berth in the 2010 National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of Arizona on April 23-25.

In the history of the division, Penn has dominated play capturing the past four championships (2006-09) and five of the 10 crowns dating back to 2001.  Penn State (2001, 2005) and Virginia (2003) are the only active teams to win titles as the University of Maryland (2002) completes the nine previous titleists.
