Princeton's Zalewski & Hale Named to 2009 Men's ACWPC All-America Team
PRINCETON, N.J. -- Princeton University's Mark Zalewski (Sr., St. Louis, Mo./Kirkwood) and Matt Hale (Jr., Atherton, Calif./The Menlo School) were named to the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) 2009 Men's All-America Teams on Friday, January 29. Zalewski was a Third-Team choice while Hale picked up an Honorable Mention nod on the heels of leading the Tigers to a third place finish at the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) National Championship at home in DeNunzio Pool.
Zalewski finished his senior season at Princeton with a team-high 57 goals. He was a first-team All-Southern and first-team All-Eastern Tournament selection. He was also named to the second NCAA All-Tournament team as Princeton won its first-ever NCAA tournament game this fall with a 6-5 victory over Loyola Marymount University in the third place game.
Hale was an honorable mention selection. He scored 19 goals as a junior and led the team with 36 steals. He joined Zalewski on the second NCAA All-Tournament team following Princeton's third-place finish at NCAAs.
The pair becomes the seventh and eighth Tigers to earn All-America honors, joining Chad Elliott, Chris Gratian, Kevin Foster, Peter Sabbatini, John Stover, Nicholas Seaver and Brendan Colgan.
