Bucknell Men's Aquatics Programs Team Up to Help Revitalize Nearby State Park

LEWISBURG, Pa. – The Bucknell men’s water polo and men’s swimming & diving teams routinely share Kinney Natatorium, but this past on September 1 they got to know each other outside of the pool. The two teams combined efforts to revitalize the hiking trails at nearby R.B. Winter State Park.

The coaching staffs and student-athletes, including all 18 members of the water polo squad, dug up potholes and cleaned up hazards along the trails with direction from park rangers. Equipped with shovels, pick axes and wheelbarrows the two teams worked side-by-side along a one-mile strip of the most popular hiking trail in the park. One faction of the teams built a retaining wall for an overpass near a creek.

The Bison teams plan to make the event an annual occurrence. The women’s water polo and swimming & diving teams are expected to team up on a community service project later this academic year.
