Mercyhurst College's Alex Moggridge Named September 8 CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Mercyhurst College's Alex Moggridge (So., Ottawa, Ont./Nepean) netted 16 goals with two assists and a pair of steals, including the game-winner in an 11-10 win over George Washington University, in leading the Lakers to a 2-1 record at the Navy Open to earn September 8 Southern Division Player of the Week honors.
The second-year utility player scored six goals and two assists in a 12-9 loss to Iona College, while adding five goals in an 11-9 victory against Massachusetts Institute of Technology on September 6. In the Lakers' final game of the tournament on September 7, he added five more scores, including the game-winner off a penalty shot with seven seconds left on the clock, in an 11-10 victory over George Washington University.
Moggridge came close to matching his 2007 output as the tallied 26 goals with six assists and 21 steals as a freshman.
