California, Redlands & St. Francis Top September 17 Men's National Varsity Polls

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The University of California-Berkeley and the University of Redlands retained their ranks at No. 1 in the Men’s Varsity and Division III polls, while Saint Francis College (N.Y.) climbed to the top spot in the Collegiate Water Polo Association poll as the September 17 Men’s Varsity polls were released to the media.

California continues as a unanimous No. 1 selection from the September 10 poll after receiving 98 points in the preseason poll. Cal is seeking to finish the season at #1 for the third straight year as the Bears captured the 2006 National Title as well after ranking #1 in the preseason.

Overall, the Top 10 of the poll remains unchanged from the September 10 balloting as the ten best programs in the nation continue to be from California.

The United States Naval Academy, which was ranked No. 11 last week, slipped back to No. 13 allowing the University of California-Davis and Saint Francis College (N.Y.) to climb to No. 11 and 12, respectively, this week. University of the Pacific, Santa Clara University and University of Redlands held on at No. 14 through 16 for another week, while California Baptist University climbed up to No. 17.

The final four spots in the Top 20 are shared as Princeton University and Brown University tied for 18th place, while the United States Air Force Academy and Johns Hopkins University round out the Top 20 as the pair tied for the 20th position.
