Phillips Scores Six as Grinnell Downs Carnegie Mellon 22-3 at Division III Collegiate Club Championship

VILLANOVA, Pa. --  Alex Phillips (Fr., St. Louis, Mo.) scored six goals to earn Player of the Game honors and lead seven Grinnell College scorers as the Wild Turkeys dispatched Carnegie Mellon University 22-3 in the second round of the 2008 Division III Collegiate Club Championship at Villanova University.

Courtesy the win, Grinnell advances to face either Monmouth College or Wesleyan University in the fifth place game at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 2, while Carnegie Mellon will take on the other team at 1:00 p.m. in the seventh place game.

The Turkeys wasted little time in putting the game away running out to a 9-1 lead by halftime and rattling off a 7-0 in the third period to carry a 16-1 lead into the fourth period.

For Grinnell, Sinan Ozer (So., Istanbul, Turkey) and Sam Sherwood (Fr., Seattle, Wash.) both chipped in five goals, Patrick Thomas (Jr., St. Louis, Mo.) and Dan Neely (Sr., Chicago, Ill.) added pairs and Matt Hochstein (Sr., Barrington, Ill.) and Cyrus Mistry (So., Des Moines, Iowa) tickled the twine with solo scores.

For the Tartans, Tony LoPresti (Jr., Austin, Texas), Steve Luminai (Jr., Philadelphia, Pa.) and Anson Wang (Jr., Woodbridge, Conn.) finessed shots into the cage to account for Carnegie Mellon's scoring.
