Princeton Announces End of Year Men's & Women's Water Polo Awards
PRINCETON, N.J. --
Princeton water polo coach Luis Nicolao recently
announced the winners of the men’s and women’s year-end
awards and the captains for both teams for the 2009 men’s and
the 2010 seasons.
Senior Alex Edmunds (Los Angeles, Calif./Loyola)
was named the recipient of the Scott A.C. Roche ’94 Memorial
Award. The Roche Award is presented annually, by election of the
team, to the senior player who, like Scott, led with energy and
determination, intense competitive spirit and a contagious love of
the game.
Classmate Liz Dilday (Long Beach, Calif./Wilson)
was the recipient of the Women’s Water Polo Tiger Award,
which is awarded annually, by election of the team, to the
individual who contributed the most in play, sportsmanship and
dedication to the Princeton University women's water polo team.
The captains were also named for both squads. Current juniors
Gregor Horstmeyer (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto),
Eric Vreeland (Los Angeles,
Calif./Harvard-Westlake) and Douglas Wigley
(Atherton, Calif./Sacred Heart) will lead the 2009
men’s team, while juniors Carolina Ardila (Coral
Gables, Fla./Gulliver Prep), Phoebe Champion (Palo
Alto, Calif./Palo Alto) and Helen Meigs (Jr.,
Solana Beach, Calif./The Bishop's School) will hold these
roles with the 2010 women’s squad.
