Bucknell's Kandis Canonica Named March 9 Southern Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Bucknell University utility player Kandis Canonica (So., Burlingame, Calif./St. Ignatius Prep) scored seven goals with 16 assists, four steals and 10 ejections drawn while posting three games with four or more assists last week to earn the March 9 Southern Division Player of the Week award and lead the Bison to a 4-1 record.
She opened the week with four goals and a steal in an 11-6 win over Southern Division foe George Washington University before contributing four assists with three ejections drawn in a 10-7 loss to No. 19-nationally ranked University of California-San Diego.
Against University of the Pacific in a 9-8 victory, she dished out five assists with a goal, two steals and three ejections drawn and chipped in two goals, an assist and two ejections drawn in a 10-3 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges.
Her best game of the week came against California Baptist University as she tied her own school single-game record with six assists, a steal and two ejections drawn in an 11-9 win.
The team leader in assists (35) and points (69) this year, and ranked second in ejections drawn (33), her 35 assists rank seven on the Bucknell single-season list.
In addition, her 96 career assists rank fourth in Bison history as she ranks 10th in career points at Bucknell with 181.
