BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - Bates College, Boston College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Wellesley College and Wesleyan University will begin the 2009 North Atlantic Division schedule this weekend as MIT hosts at Philips Exeter Academy the first of two regular season division tournaments.
One of the newest club divisions, the North Atlantic has been dominated by MIT since its inception as the Engineers captured the 2005, 2006 and 2007 titles before falling to Boston College in the 2008 title tilt.
Boston College, which has advanced to the last two title games, enters the season as a defending division champion for the first time in the program's history as the Eagles knocked off MIT 10-4 in the 2008 title game hosted by former division team Boston University.
BU, which finished second in 2005 and 2006 to MIT, will not challenge for the North Atlantic Championship this year as the Terriers transferred out of the division during the fall to join the New England Division.
In addition to the collegiate games this weekend, Philips Exeter Academy, which is providing the facility and hosting the tournament with MIT, will take on MIT, Wesleyan, BC and Bates in exhibition games.
The complete division schedule is available online at the Women's Club Schedules page.
