Canucktion
The Canadian duo of sophomore Kelsey Campbell and freshman Jakie Köhli have played outstanding of late for the Hoosiers and each was recognized by the CWPA on March 23 for their hard work at the Aztec Invitational. Campbell earned Western Division Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week, after scoring five goals and recording three assists, two steals, and eight kick-outs drawn throughout Indiana’s five games in San Diego.
Campbell is the first player to earn back-to-back Western Division Player of the Week awards since the University of Michigan's Meg Hausman (April 13 & April 27, 2006) and the first Western Division player to achieve the feat on consecutive weekends since CWPA Hall of Fame member and 2008 U.S. Olympic goalie Betsey Armstrong earned the award on March 4 and 11, 2004.
Köhli has continued to improve all season long and was named Western Division Rookie of the Week for her performance over the weekend. She wreaked havoc for opposing offenses by racking up ten steals during the Aztec Invitational. Köhli also scored four goals, to go along with a team-high seven assists and four earned exclusions.
Spreading the Wealth
The Hoosiers have exhibited a
balanced offensive attack throughout the 2009 season, with four
players scoring at least 20 goals overall. Indiana is led in
scoring by the sophomore trio of Amy Moore, Lauren Wyckoff, and
Campbell. Moore leads the way with 30 goals, while Wyckoff has 26
and Campbell with 22. Wyckoff and Campbell have been particularly
impressive with their shot accuracy. Wyckoff’s 26 goals have
come on just 65 total shots, while Campbell has taken 66 attempts.
Senior Maggie Hannon has also been productive for the Hoosier
offense, finding the back of the net 20 times.
