14 CWPA Student-Athletes Named to Spring 2009 Big Ten Academic All-Conference Team

CHICAGO, Ill. -- 14 Collegiate Water Polo Association student-athletes from the University of Michigan and Indiana University were named to the Spring 2009 Big Ten Academic All-Conference Team on May 29. To be eligible for Academic All-Big Ten selection, student-athletes must be letterwinners in at least their second academic year at their institution and carry a career grade-point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better.

For Indiana University, Kara Butler, Kelsey Campbell, Kate Dunn, Maggie Hannon, Kelly Palmberg, Nicole Redder, Nicole Sands, Stephanie Winter and Lauren Wyckoff earned recognition, while Michigan's Julie Hyrne, Alison Mantel, Lauren Orth, Cara Reitz and Carrie Stover were also honored as women's at-large representatives as the Big Ten does not sponsor women's water polo.

The oldest Division I college athletic conference in the United States, the Big Ten's 11 member institutions include Indiana, Michigan, Pennsylvania State University, Michigan State University, University of Iowa, University of Minnesota, University of Illinois, Northwestern University, Ohio State University, Purdue University and University of Wisconsin.
