Indiana's Wyckoff Sisters Wrap Up USA Water Polo Open National Title
BLOOMINGTON, Ind.
- Indiana University freshman Cassie Wyckoff
(Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos) started at
goalkeeper during the final three games of the USA Open (20-Over)
National Championship in Stockton, Calif. for the Stanford Red club
team, including a 12-11 overtime victory against the New York
Athletic Club A team in the title game.
Wyckoff's stellar play in goal was crucial during the waning
moments of the game as she made a key block to help send the game
into overtime. She also started in an 8-7 semifinal win against
Diablo and an 8-4 pool play victory against the New York Athletic
Club A team.
Wyckoff joined the Stanford Red team after being called up from
the Stanford White (B) team following the 20-Under tournament,
which Stanford Red also won.
Cassie's sister, Indiana sophomore Lauren Wyckoff
(Los Altos, Calif./Los Altos), played a key role
in the impressive run during both tournaments for Stanford Red,
including a goal scored in the 20-Under title game.
The duo became part of the first Stanford Water Polo Club team to
claim both the 20-Under and Open titles in the same year, finishing
the week with a 14-0 overall record.
