Four CWPA Athletes Help USA Earn Silver Medal at 2009 Maccabiah Games

TEL AVIV, Israel -- Johns Hopkins University's Jamie Neuwirth, former Bucknell University standouts Aaron Platshon and Bradley Roslyn, and Brown University recruit Dean Serure helped the United States team earn the Silver Medal at the 2009 Maccabiah Games in Tel Aviv, Israel last week.

Sometimes referred to as the "Jewish Olympics", the Games are held every four years in Israel and attract the most outstanding Jewish athletes from around the world. Neuwirth, Roslyn, Serure and Platshon were among 13 players to represent the United States in the sport of water polo at the two-week games.

The four-some helped the United States go 3-1 in play as the squad downed Mexico (23-3 W) on July 13, felled Canada (18-12 W) on July 14 and stopped the host Israeli team (8-6 W) on July 16 to advance to the championship game.

In the title tilt, the United States was unable to overcome Israel for a second time falling to the hometeam 10-8 on July 18 to finish with the silver medal.
