Brown's Dean Serure to Compete in 2009 Maccabiah Games
TEL AVIV, Israel -
Brown University recruit Dean Serure (Coconut Grove,
Fla./Ransom-Everglades) is among 8,000 athletes from
approximately 60 nations world-wide who will participate in the
18th Maccabiah Games in Tel Aviv, Israel which began on July
12.
Sometimes referred to as the "Jewish Olympics", these Games are
held every four years in Israel and attract the most outstanding
Jewish athletes from around the world. Serure will represent the
United States in the two-week competition that will begin with
Opening Ceremonies in Tel Aviv's Ramat Gan Stadium.
Serure and his 12 teammates, including Johns Hopkins University
senior Jamie Neuwirth (Ross,
Calif./Phillips Andover) and 2006 Bucknell University
graduates Aaron Platshon (Menlo Park, Calif./Menlo
School) and Bradley Roslyn (Philadelphia,
Pa./William Penn Charter) as the Collegiate Water Polo
Association accounts for nearly a quarter of the total team, opened
play against Mexico on July 13 and will play four games in the
round robin competition before moving into the medal round.
