MacLaughlin & Perlman Named 2009 Harvard Women's Water Polo Team Captains

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Seniors Nicola Perlman (Stanford, Calif./Castilleja) and Devon MacLaughlin (Agura Hills, Calif./Harvard-Westlake) of the Harvard University women's water polo team have been named captains for the upcoming season.

Perlman, a goalkeeper, was honored on last year's Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) All-Northern Division second team after recording 10 or more saves in eight contests in 2008. A two-time CWPA All-Academic team member as well as an Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coahces (ACWPC) All-Academic team selection a year ago, Perlman helped the Crimson to a 12-12 overall mark last spring.

MacLaughlin also earned a spot on the 2008 CWPA All-Northern Division second team and was tabbed CWPA Northern Division Player of the Week March 4 after scoring nine goals and drawing 13 ejections during the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Championship. MacLaughlin scored multiple goals on 11 occasions during the 2008 season.

Perlman, MacLaughlin and the Crimson get 2009 started with the Harvard Invitational, scheduled for February 14-15 at Blodgett Pool.
