Bucknell's Amanda Skonezney Named January 26 Southern Division Rookie of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Bucknell University's Amanda Skonezney (Fr., Mechanicsburg, Pa./Cumberland Valley) began her collegiate career in style winning six-of-14 sprints and collected six steals in four games to earn the January 26 Southern Division Rookie of the Week award from the Collegiate Water Polo Association league office.

The only freshman player to start for Bucknell this weekend, she won all four sprints against Colorado State University in an 11-8 victory to become the first Bison player since Shana Palencia (Jr., Glendale, Calif./Hoover) achieved the feat in 2007 against California Baptist University.

Skonezney started three of four games for Bucknell over the weekend at the University of Michigan Kick-Off Tournament as the Bison knocked off Colorado State, but fell to national championship contenders No. 8 Arizona State University (15-7 L), No. 3 University of California-Los Angeles (17-0 L) and No. 7 San Jose State University (14-5 L).
