Yale Water Polo Travels to Puerto Rico for Enchanting Experience
NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- For the Yale University women's water polo team, the squad's training trip to prepare for the 2009 season and a run at the New England Division title was enchanting as the Bulldogs traveled to "La Isla del Encanto" (The Island of Enchantment) Puerto Rico.
"Puerto Rico was a continuous adventure in and out of the water," according to Yale player Alina Yang, "which helped strengthen not only our polo skills, but also our group dynamic."
Besides playing against some national 16-and-under travel teams from the northeastern Caribbean territory in preparation for the collegiate club season, the Bulldogs were able to travel around Luquillo, San Juan and Arebico and kayak in a bioluminescent bay.
Yale, which is led by co-captains Julie McComish and Yang, will seek the program's first divsion title since the 2006 season when the New England Division schedule begins on February 14-15 at Williams College.
