Michigan's Leah Robertson Named February 23 Western Division Player of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Leah Robertson (Jr., Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) of the University of Michigan scored seven goals with four assists, 13 steals and nine drawn kickouts in four games to earn the February 23 Western Division Player of the Week award.
She notched four goals in a 10-6 loss to No. 6 San Diego State University and recorded single scores versus No. 16 UC-San Diego (7-3 W), No. 19 UC-Santa Barbara (7-4 L) and No. 14 CSU-Northridge (9-6 L) at the UC-Irvine Anteater Invitational.
The selection marks the second Player of the Week award of the year for the 2008 American Water Polo Coaches Association (AWPCA) Honorable Mention All-America selection, and the ninth consecutive week a Michigan player has been named the division's top player dating back to April 14, 2008. During the stretch, Sharayah Hernandez (Sr., Pico Rivera, Calif./El Rancho) (April 14, April 21), Julie Hyrne (Sr., Sunnyvale, Calif./Archbishop Mitty) (April 21, February 16), Robertson (April 28, January 26, February 23) and Alison Mantel (So., Miami, Fla/Gulliver) (April 28, February 9) have earned or shared the honor.
