George Washington's Allison Peotter Named February 23 Southern Division Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- George Washington University driver Allison Peotter (Fr., Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar) totaled five goals, including a hat-trick in a 17-7 win over Villanova University, with five assists and 13 steals in four games at the Princeton Invitational to earn the February 23 Southern Division Rookie of the Week award.
Following losses to Wagner College (11-5 L), Marist College (10-8 L) and Harvard University (14-4 L), Peotter and the Colonials knocked off the Wildcats to snap a 15-game losing streak dating back to wins over Occidental College (8-7 W) and Macalester College (18-6 W) on March 16, 2008.
Prior to coming to GW, she was a
second team All-Southern California selection by the California
Interscholastic Federation after helping Corona del Mar to a 27-8
overall record and Division I state championship game appearance in
2008. Peotter scored 40 goals and added 20 assists and 37 steals as
a senior to earn first team All-Pacific Coast League and Daily
Pilot "Dream Team" honors.
Peotter was named to the Southern California Invitational
All-Tournament Team and received Corona del Mar's Most
Inspirational and Outstanding Student-Athlete awards last season.
As a junior, Peotter had 12 goals, five assists and 15 steals as
the Sea Kings posted a 24-10 overall record. Peotter also was a
four-year varsity swimmer and finished 14th in the state in the
100-meter backstroke as a sophomore.
