Alex Stankevitch Selected to 2008 NCAA Championship Officiating Crew

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- 2003 and 2008 Collegiate Water Polo Association Referee of the Year Alex Stankevitch has been selected as one of four referees for the 2008 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Men's Water Polo Championship at Stanford University on December 6-7.

A 1998 graduate of the University of California-Santa Barbara, the selection marks his seventh championship assignment in 2008 as he was picked to the crews for the Elite 6, Southern, Eastern and NCAA Championships during the women's season and earned a selection to the Southern and Eastern Championship staff during the men's season. 

Overall, it marks his 10th championship assignment from the fall of 2007 to present as he was picked for the Southern Championship, Eastern Championship and NCAA Championship during the 2007 men's season.

He is joined on the NCAA officiating crew by Steve Rotsart, Rick Curry and Steve Redding as the national championship will begin on December 6 when the University of Southern California (27-0) will play U.S. Naval Academy (20-9) before Loyola Marymount University (20-9) faces Stanford University (24-5). Game times are 5:00 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. Pacific Standard time, respectively.

The third-place game will be played at 1:00 p.m. Pacific Standard time on December 7 with the championship game at 3:00 p.m. Pacific Standard time. The national championship game will be televised live on CBS College Sports Network.
