Michigan's Meagan Cobb Named April 20 Western Division Rookie of the Week
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- University of Michigan two-meter Meagan Cobb (Fr., Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) netted six goals with three steals and three kick-outs drawn to earn the April 20 Western Division Rookie of the Week award and help lead the No. 12-nationally ranked Wolverines to capture the program's eight Western Division title.
Against Penn State University-Erie, The Behrend College in a 14-2 victory, she recorded a hat-trick with two steals and a kick-out drawn before tacking on two goals and two kick-outs drawn in a 17-4 win over Gannon University.
Versus No. 17 Indiana University in the division title game, she managed a goal and a steal as the Wolverines knocked off the Hoosiers 9-8.
The January 26 and March 16 Rookie of the Week and March 30 Western Division Player of the Week, Cobb and the Wolverines will continue the season on April 24-26 at the CWPA Eastern Championship hosted by Harvard University in Cambridge, Mass. The 2008 Eastern Champion Wolverines will be seeking their first back-to-back Eastern titles and the automatic bid to the NCAA Championship that comes with it.
