Maryland's Elina Goldenberg Named April 20 Southern Division Rookie & Player of the Week

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Utility player Elina Goldenberg (Fr., Fort Lauderdale, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas) of the University of Maryland scored six goals, including a game-high five in the division title game, to earn the April 20 Southern Division Player and Rookie of the Week awards in leading the Terrapins to the 2009 Southern Division Championship and an automatic berth in the Eastern Championship field.

Against Princeton University in the division title game, she made her presence felt at the two-meter line, scoring the first two Terrapin goals and finishing with five for the game as the Terrapins rolled to a 14-10 victory.

In the opening round of the division tournament, she tallied a single goal as Maryland downed George Washington University 15-7.

The award marks Goldenberg's third Rookie of the Week honor and second Player of the Week nod as she was previously honored on February 16 and March 30 with the first-year award and March 2 as the division's outstanding player.
