Young & Wilson Net Pairs as No. 3 UCLA Bruins Bear No. 15 Texas 5-2 in National Collegiate Club Ninth Place Game

DAVIS, Calif. -- Adele Young (So., Long Beach, Calif.) and Desiree Wilson (So., La Vern, Calif.) recorded pairs of goals as the No. 3-nationally ranked Bruins of the University of California-Los Angeles defeated No. 15 University of Texas 5-2 in the ninth place game of the 2009 National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of California-Davis' Schaal Aquatic Center.

The Bruins never trailed in the game opening a 1-0 lead with 2:47 left in the first half on a fastbreak score by Wilson to go in front 1-0.

Texas tied the score 35 seconds into the second half with a direct shot by Abby Edwards (Fr., Houston, Texas), but UCLA went on a 3-0 scoring run over the next three minutes as Wilson found the back of the cage at 5:02 on a fastbreak before Young scored on a man-advantage and a counter chance at 4:02 and 3:01, respectively, to take a 4-1 lead.

The Longhorns chopped the margin to a pair of scores prior to the end of the third period as Carly O'Donnell (Jr., Auckland, New Zealand) scored on a shot from the perimeter to move her team to within 4-2.

However, the UCLA defense kept the Longhorns off the board in the fourth period and Kelli Bouman (Sr., San Diego, Calif.) closed out the Bruins' season with a tally on an exclusion opportunity with 45 seconds to go in the fourth period for the 5-2 final.

In cage, Courtney Coffey (Jr., Houston, Texas) concluded the game with one save as the Longhorns place 10th in the final tournament standings, while UCLA's Rachel Bone (So., Citrus Heights, Calif.) made three saves for the Bruins.
