Beauchemin Scores Four as No. 16 Central Florida Overpowers Carleton 8-2 in National Collegiate Club Championship Tournament

DAVIS, Calif. --  Stephanie Beauchemin (Sr., Sanford, Fla.) scored four goals to earn Player of the Game honors as No. 16 University of Central Florida overpowered Carleton College 8-2 in the consolation round of the 2009 National Collegiate Club Championship at the University of California-Davis. UCF advances to face the winner of another second round game between No. 19 Dartmouth College and No. 15 University of Texas at 5:10 on May 2 with a berth in the ninth place game on the line.

Carleton will next face the loser of the Texas-Dartmouth game at 2:50 p.m. on May 2 with the winner placing 13th and the loser finishing 15th in the final tournament standings.

In a game between two schools with Knights as their mascot, the Lady Knights pulled out to a 2-0 lead in the first period and never looked back as Beauchemin scored at 5:58 and 5:12 to equal Carleton's scoring output in the game.

The Knights halved the margin before the end of the period as Arielle Rebek (Fr., Elmhurst, Ill.) punched in a score at the 4:30 mark, but UCF outscored Carleton 3-1 in the second period, including a pair of scores by Beauchemin to complete a hat-trick and tack on her fourth goal of the game to take a three goal lead into the break.

After scoring three consecutive goals to close out the second period, the Lady Knights continued the onslaught in the second half with three goals in the third period to push the lead out to 8-2 and cruise to a six-goal victory.

Nicole Chavez (Fr., Miami, Fla.) added a pair of tallies for UCF, while Stefanie Clark (Fr., Altamonte Springs, Fla.) and Crystal Milliken (Sr., Orlando, Fla.) chipped in solo scores to round out the Lady Knights' scorers.

For Carleton, Rebek and Becky Alexander (Sr., Tigard, Ore.) found the back of the cage.
