CWPA Releases 2008 Men's Varsity Northern Division Schedule

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The Collegiate Water Polo Association office has announced the 2008 Men's Varsity Northern Division schedule as Saint Francis College (N.Y.), Queens College, Brown University, Connecticut College, Fordham University, Harvard University, Iona College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology will battle it out for one of four berths to the Eastern Championship.

The defending Northern Division champion with a 7-0 mark in division regular season play last year, Saint Francis College will face competition throughout the division if the Terriers hope to repeat the feat in 2008. 

Brown University, which finished second in the division last year with a 6-1 mark in regular season play and a 14-10 loss to Saint Francis in the title game, could pose a threat again this year as the Bears are primed to return to the top spot in the North. 

Harvard University, Iona College and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, which placed third through fifth, respectively, in the final standings a year ago should also contend for a berth to the Eastern Championship.

Fordham University, Queens College and Connecticut College, which placed sixth through eighth in the division a year ago, may also contend for the division title and/or a berth to the Eastern Championship.
