Meeting held February 26, 2008 5:00 PM

Attending: Dan Sharadin, Commissioner; University of Illinois, Chicago, Michael Walsh; Northern Illinois University, Kevin Reeve; Lindenwood University, Ted Greenhouse; Miami University, Curt Miner

The Commissioner began the call by asking teams if they knew of new programs interested in joining. Cincinnati and Loyola were both mentioned as possibilities along with Missouri.

The league schedule was the first item on the agenda. After discussion, teams chose to create a regional split. Teams will play opponents within their area during the first weekend and then against the opposite region during the second. The crossover and championship locations will be held in different regions whenever possible with a 30-meter course preferred for the championship. The league schedule was then determined as follows:

  • September 20-21 Boston University

The meeting concluded with discussion about changing the process for the all-conference team selection. The Commissioner explained that the process will be automated with the new site which should help make it timelier. Ultimately it is up to the teams involved. Some coaches proposed that the team be selected at the championship and the Commissioner explained that there had been problems in the past regarding the integrity of the process being administered by a host team. The consensus was to wait one more year to see if the new website process would make a difference. If not it can be revisited next year.

New York Division

Meeting held February 29, 2008 5:00 PM

Attending: Dan Sharadin, Commissioner; Colgate University, J.J. Figueroa and Scott Dunlavey; New York University, Courtney Hargrave; United States Military Academy, Matt Price; Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Grace Tangney; Binghamton University, Michael Ryan; University of Rochester, Adam Williamson

The Commissioner asked teams if they knew of any teams wishing to join. No one was aware of any at this time.

The league schedule was the first item on the agenda. Unfortunately several institutions that were scheduled to host were not present on the call (Syracuse and Columbia) so some of the schedule is still tentative based on their pool availability.

There was some discussion about how the schedule should be arranged, specifically concerning where the championship should be placed. The consensus reached was that the championship and the crossover would continue to be placed in opposite regions so no region was required to travel outside of their area more than one per season. Teams then voted to place the championship in the eastern region. The dates and times were set as follows:

Option 1 (Columbia hosts the championship)

  • September 21-22 Eastern regional at New York University
  • September 21-22 Western regional at Syracuse University
  • October 4-5 Crossover at University of Rochester
  • October 25-26 Championship at Columbia University

  • September 21-22 Western regional at Syracuse University
  • October 4-5 Crossover at University of Rochester

One included a regional split with teams meeting at the championship. The other maintained a crossover format as in last year's schedule. The Commissioner mentioned the possibility of more tiebreakers being required with the crossover format.
