Northern Division

 

4-24 Megan Thomson, Hartwick College
Megan Thomson had 13 goals in three games to lead the Hawks to the CWPA Northern Division title. She had three goals, three drawn ejections and three steals in the title game win over Brown. Thomson also had six goals and three drawn ejections in a 13-7 semifinal victory over Massachusetts. Thomson, who sat out Hartwick's game against Siena, added four goals in a 10-3 win over Queens. Thomson passed 100 points on the season and now has 80 goals and 21 assists for 101 points heading into the CWPA Eastern Championships. Thomson has 168 goals and 46 assists for 214 points in two years.

 

4-17 Megan Thomson, Hartwick College
Megan Thomson was named Most Valuable Player of the ECAC Tournament and also took
first-team honors as the Hawks captured the championship with a 6-5 win over Brown in the title game. Thomson had nine goals and one assist in four games despite being the center of the attention of the opponent's defense. Thomson finished with three goals and two drawn ejections in an 11-9 win over Princeton in a semifinal game. She also reached 200 career points during the Princeton game in just her second year at Hartwick. She now has 155 goals and 46 assists for 201 points.

 

4-10 Megan Thomson, Hartwick College
Megan Thomson had eight goals, three assists, drew one four-meter ejection and seven other drawn ejections for Hartwick in four wins in clinching the New York Region championship for the second straight year. Thomson had three goals, one assist, a drawn four-meter ejection and two other drawn ejections in a key 14-9 win over St. Francis, which was also 4-0 in the region at the time of the game. Thomson, an all-American last year, is at 54 goals and 19 assists this year for 73 points. In two years at Hartwick, she has 142 goals and 44 assists for 186 career points.

 

3-27 Megan Perry, University of Massachusetts
Senior Megan Perry scored four goals and added two assists as the Minutewomen went 1-1 on the final leg of their California spring break trip. She also added three steals in the two games. Perry scored three goals and dished out two assists in UMass' 11-9 victory over Claremont Mudd-Scripps. She also picked up two steals in that win. In an 11-6 loss at #20 Cal Baptist, she scored another goal, while recording an assist and a steal in the loss.

 

3-20 Alison Loveless, Hartwick College
Junior Alison Loveless had nine goals, five assists and drew one kick-out in victories over Villanova (19-6) and Arizona State (14-6) on Saturday. She had six goals and two assists in the win against Villanova and followed that up with three goals, three assists, a steal and one kick-out against Arizona State. Loveless also went over 50 career assists in Hartwick's two-year program and stands as the all-time assist leader with 52. She is currently fourth on the Hawks in scoring with 17 goals and 15 assists for 32 points.

 

3-13 Jeanie Ward-Waller, Brown University

Sophomore Jeanie Ward-Waller had a strong performance in the Bears' 8-7 victory over #20 Massachusetts, scoring three goals and drawing three ejections at the two-meter position. The 2001 First Team all-Conference selection added two goals, two drawn ejections, and two drawn penalty shots in an 8-6 defeat of Harvard and a goal Brown's victory over Connecticut College. Brown finished the first weekend of CWPA play undefeated, at 3-0.

 

3-6 Kate Chambers, Hartwick College

Freshman Kate Chambers had one goal and three assists, drew four kick-outs and had one steal in Hartwick's 11-9 overtime win at University of Massachusetts on Saturday. Chambers is off to a big start to her first season for Hartwick. She is second on the team in scoring (9 goals, 20 assists for 29 points), first in assists, first in steals (26), first in four-meter ejections drawn (4) and second in kick-outs (14).

 

2-27 Keira Heggie, Brown University

Goalkeeper Keira Heggie posted 15 saves and two steals in the Bears' 6-3 win over #19 UMass this past weekend. This gives her 59 saves for the season.

 

2-20 Megan Thomson, Hartwick College

Despite battling some injury problems, All-American Megan Thomson finished with eight goals in three games at the Princeton Invitational. She had two goals against Brown, including the game-winner in sudden-death overtime. Thomson added three goals versus Michigan and had three against Slippery Rock in limited time. Thomson has 22 goals in nine games this year and now has 110 career goals in the two-year history of the program at Hartwick.

 

2-13 Kelly Chassy, University of Massachusetts

Junior Kelly Chassy (Morgan Hill, Calif.) scored nine goals this weekend as the 20th ranked
University of Massachusetts women's water polo team competed at the Stanford nvitational.
UMass faced four of the nation's top six teams and Chassy accounted for 64 percent of her
team's offense.

 

 

 

 


 

Southern Division

 

4-10 Lindsay Chesterfield, Bucknell University
In tight games this weekend Junior Lindsay Chesterfield had a great weekend
recording an 11 save performance versus George Washington, a 14 save game
in Bucknell's 8-5 win over Villanova and 12 saves versus Princeton.

 

3-27 Adele McCarthy-Beauvais, Princeton University

Adele McCarthy-Beauvais scored eight goals against Michigan on-route to a 17-16 Princeton victory. A day earlier, McCarthy-Beauvais lead the Tigers to a 11-6 victory with four goals against the Hoosiers of Indiana. Earlier in the week, despite a five-goal effort by McCarthy-Beauvais, the Tigers fell to UC Irvine 11-8 and she tallied two goals in the 9-6 loss to San Diego State. Currently she has a team high 66 goals.

 

3-20 Kristin Stanford, Indiana University

Junior Kristin Stanford recorded a team high 10 goals on 28 shots in five games over the team's spring break trip (featuring games versus Cal-State Bakersfield, UC-Irvine, LMU, Cal-Baptist and Redlands). Also tallied 10 steals and five assists. Scored three goals each against Cal-Baptist and UC-Irvine. Held her opponents scoreless in the two-meter in all games.

 

3-13 Jen Crisman, University of Michigan

Senior Jen Crisman tied a University of Michigan school record with four steals in the Wolverines' 13-8 victory over Slippery Rock. She added a hat trick in a 17-2 defeat of Penn State Behrend and got Michigan's offense started quickly by going undefeated in sprints on the weekend.

 

3-6 Betsey Armstrong, University of Michigan

Goaltender Betsey Armstrong enjoyed a strong weekend in the cage at the Brown Invitational tournament, amassing 35 blocks in three games. She also posted 11 additional 5 on 6 blocks and 15 steals when coming out of the goal. Her performance was key to the Woverines' wins over #16 Princeton University, #18 Brown University and Iona College.

 

2-27 Lisa Greenfield, George Washington University

Lisa led GW to a 3-0 weekend, with two victories over Slippery Rock and one win over Bucknell. She recorded a team record 19 saves in the second Slippery Rock game, running her total for the weekend to 37.

 

2-20 Sharna Nelson, Indiana University

Freshman Sharna Nelson scored a team high eight goals on 20 shots for Indiana in four
games at the Princeton Invitational. Nelson also recorded four assists, one steal and earned
five kickouts. Not found on the stat page but seen in the pool, Nelson stepped up huge for the Hoosiers against Princeton when IU's leaders, Kristin Stanford and Molly Fonner, were taken out of the game early with two kickouts each.

 

2-13 Molly Fonner, Indiana University

Senior Molly Fonner scored one goal and one assist and tallied six steals in Indiana's 5-4
victory over UC Irvine and added two goals and three assists in the Hoosiers' 7-0 win over
Cal Baptist. Fonner totaled four goals, nine steals, four assists, one block and one drawn
ejection and helped Indiana to a 2-2 record at the UC San Diego Invitational.

 

1-30 Casey Kerney, University of Michigan

Freshman Casey Kerney got her collegiate water polo career off to a stellar start, scoring
ten goals in four contests at the 2002 Michigan Invitational, including a hat tricks versus
#6 University of California, Santa Barbara and #20 Indiana University.
