Minutemen Outduel Cadets

SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The University of Massachusetts opened its first appearance at the National Collegiate Club Championship with an impressive 14-5 victory over the United States Military Academy. After taking a 4-0 lead after one quarter, the Minutemen watched Army climb back into the contest with a four goal second period, making the halftime score 6-5 in favor of UMass. It was all Massachusetts after that, as the Minutemen scored eight unanswered second half goals.

Ricky Puig led UMass with four goals and Chad Arnold added another three. Lawrence Park led Army with two scores. UMass plays Penn in the quarterfinals while Army plays Grand Valley State in the consolation bracket.
